Life-Changing Diagnosis for Fort Worth Executive
Sherrie Dominguez’s executive health appointment began like any other: health screenings, a treadmill stress test and head-to-toe exam. But it concluded with a life-changing diagnosis.

“The physician asked me how long I’d had swollen lymph nodes in my neck,” Dominguez said. “I hadn’t noticed them. I wasn’t having any unusual symptoms or fatigue. I had no idea that I was sick.”

Dr. Carla Castaneda set an appointment with Dominguez’s doctor before she left. One month later, results from tests and scans revealed stage three non-Hodgkin’s follicular lymphoma throughout her entire upper body.

“It’s a blessing to have found the cancer when we did, because it’s treatable,” Dominguez said. “If it weren’t for Dr. Castaneda’s thorough exam, I may not have found out for months or even longer.”

The executive health program at Texas Health Fort Worth helps promote wellness and identify disease risk factors through comprehensive medical exams, health screenings and imaging services for the busy executive. Patients consult with internal medicine physicians on the medical staff, registered dietitians and exercise physiologists to help prevent illness and improve well-being.

Services are individually customized and may include:

  • Medical history and comprehensive physical exam
  • Blood profile and lab work
  • Treadmill stress test, electrocardiogram and heart disease risk profile
  • Body composition, waist-to-hip ratio and body mass index
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Pulmonary function test
  • Vision and hearing tests
  • Imaging services, including mammograms, chest X-rays, screening computed tomography scans of the heart, lungs, abdomen and pelvis
  • Virtual colonoscopy

Dominguez, who is 51 years old and has a family history of cancer, said she never thought she would be diagnosed so young — but she’s grateful to be armed with an excellent treatment plan.

“Now I’ll be monitored annually, which gives me peace of mind,” Dominguez said. “I can’t thank the executive health program enough. This may have saved my life.”
